Maybe I'm too close to my enemy
00:04
My name is Abby Gordon, I'm a 17 year old singer-songwriter from Irvine
00:09
So we are in King Tut's Wawa Hut right now, it's a beautiful place
00:13
I've always dreamed of playing in this venue, like since I was a little girl
00:18
And I supported Care Mercer
00:20
But this time I am preparing for my headline at King Tut's for the Summer Nights series
00:26
My dad headlined King Tut's when he was in his band
00:30
And it's just kind of like a milestone for me to do the same thing
00:34
So I would say my style is kind of a little bit of edgy, like pop
00:39
Pop music with a little bit of punk
00:42
I come up with it in many different styles to be fair
00:45
I vary in different styles
00:48
I just kind of write what comes out
00:50
So sometimes I'll be like sitting at the keyboard
00:52
And I'll come up with like a jazz song or something
00:54
Do like a little bit of like rapping kind of vibe
00:58
And sometimes I'll do like absolutely depressing ballads
01:02
So there's not really a specific style that I limit myself in
01:07
Because I love to just write whatever comes out and then see what happens
01:11
But I think my main kind of vibe that I want to go for is kind of more edgy pop just now
01:18
So Summer Nights is like an annual kind of summer festival that happens in King Tut's every year
01:24
And it's all about getting new artists and new and upcoming people from Scotland to showcase
01:32
And have an opportunity to play at this amazing venue
01:35
In front of like a different crowd of people to kind of build themselves up a little bit
01:40
I think it's great
01:41
I think it's an amazing opportunity and I'm very grateful to be a part of it this year
01:44
I feel like some people might underestimate me
01:48
I know I get in my own head a lot about it
01:50
But just because I'm so young I just feel like some people might just see me
01:55
Just as a wee girl nothing too serious like whatever
01:58
But I feel like because I'm working
02:00
I'm always working with older people in the music industry
02:04
I feel like I kind of feel a little bit older
02:06
But then I realise I'm actually not
02:07
Like I can't actually just go to the bar and get like a drink you know
02:12
But yeah it's strange
02:15
But it's also exciting because I've still got a lot more ahead of me
02:19
I'm just 17
02:22
Every guy act like someone else
02:24
Think I find it hard to trust myself
02:26
Take a step back gotta get some help
