We speak to folk punk band Brogeal who are set to play Glasgow’s TRNSMT this year on the Friday.

00:00Right, we're smiling. Come back. Now we're all, we were a chill, now we're all smiling.

00:03Yeah, yeah, yeah.

00:05We will be appearing at this year's Transmit Festival in Glasgow Green.

00:09Mm-hmm.

00:10It's the first time, so we're buzzing, like really buzzing,

00:12because it's Transmit, it's the biggest, biggest festival really, innit?

00:16So, excited to be asked to go, innit?

00:18Well, it's like Glasgow's festival, innit?

00:20So it's like right in the middle of the city and it's like,

00:23it's just all your biggest band, I mean your biggest names.

00:26And coincidentally this year, there's a lot of bands that

00:29we kind of know now, of like, I mean you've got Mary Wallopers playing and all that.

00:32A good pal, Rick Astley.

00:33Rick Astley, our good friend.

00:36No, but it's like, aye, dropping names and that.

00:38But it's like, it's good to, it's good to like see that like,

00:42are we actually kind of, we can vocal kind of with you.

00:45It is mad, I've noticed.

00:46It feels weird.

00:47It's the festival that all our kind of friends and family know.

00:52Do you know what I mean?

00:53So we're, everybody knows that we're playing Transmit

00:57and it's everybody, it's, aye, it just, it's a nice warm feeling.

01:02Because I mean, I went to, I don't know if it's the first or second one,

01:05but I've put Monkeysworth playing.

01:08And it was, with the sun going down, it was just incredible.

01:12No, it's a special festival, innit?

01:13It's a special festival.

01:14And we, that's our favourite.

01:16Ink, collectively as a band, festivals is like our favourite.

01:20Because we all go, even before the band or when the band was just starting,

01:23we'd all go to them, even abroad and everything.

01:26And it's like to be able to be playing a pure massive one.

01:28I mean, we play it.

01:29We love festivals.

01:30Last year I was directing Traffic as a steward

01:34behind Glasgow Green at Transmit, so it was nice to be inside.

01:38Aye, listening to the thumping.

01:39Oh yeah.

01:40You can actually see it.

01:41And hear it properly.

01:42You could hear, like, if the wind was going the right way,

01:44I could hear a wee bit of the 1975.

01:47Heard Kasabian quite well though, which was cool.

01:50You'll be hearing Gerry Cinnamon at full volume this time.

01:53He's great, man.

01:54Aye.

01:54Can't wait for it.
