00:00Now, I don't know more than you do, just to be clear on this, Mike, but what I saw in
00:10the release was appealing a discipline and it wasn't specific here.
00:16So to me, using that word as opposed to like a suspension or a find or anything else tells
00:22me that this potentially was very minor, but I suppose Hober just wants his name cleared
00:28completely of this.
00:29Is there any more color that you can add to what you see?
00:32I mean, if this is reading between the lines a little bit to figure out exactly what's
00:36going on.
00:37Yeah, Craig, I think the one thing that they didn't say was that he did not bet on baseball,
00:42right?
00:43That that kind of was the one thing that was not in this release.
00:45It seemed like the games he umpired, he did so with the utmost integrity.
00:50As you know, Craig Pat Hoberg is the umpire that called a perfect game.
00:54The umpires home plate umpires version of a perfect game in the 2022 World Series did
00:58miss a ball or strike call the entire game, which in this age with the robo umps and the
01:03tracker is almost unfathomable given we saw Angel Hernandez, all these other umps that
01:09always get grief, understandably for missing calls.
01:12Here's one of the best umpires in the game potentially being in trouble.
01:15Like you said, we don't exactly know what he did.
01:17You hope it's not a Shane Pinto situation where the NHL suspended him for 41 games and
01:21we still don't know what he did.
01:22So like you said, uh, more to come here on Pat Hobart, but you know, clearly in baseball,
01:27it feels like we're flying a little too close to the sun.
01:29We've had Shohei Otani's interpreter.
01:31We've had a David Fletcher being investigated for using that same illegal bookmaker, a minor
01:36league player now, uh, was a former major league player.
01:39The four minor league players, uh, the San Diego Padres, uh, Pittsburgh Pirates infielder
01:44that was suspended for life.
01:45So yeah, it just, it's unfortunate.
01:47Again, these, these leagues want to talk about integrity all the time, but they're taking
01:50sports book partnership money and all these things just add up to where this industry
01:54doesn't want to go, obviously, which is like federal oversight or, you know, the industry
01:58just totally shutting down because, you know, if you go to the point where there's a team
02:03wide, uh, you know, trying to throw games or something to that extent, or a star player,
02:08we have seen Calvin Ridley in the NFL, but you know, something to show Hayo Tani's extent,
02:11they can't afford.
02:12Yeah.
02:13The NBA is fine.
02:14Perhaps if, if John Tay Porter is, receives a lifetime ban of reserve player, but you
02:17know, you get a, a key starter and all-star involved and that's where things change.
02:21So yeah, I mean, it's just something where the education needs to continue.
02:24We know all these coaches, players, staffers are getting education and you know, unfortunately
02:29you have thousands of, of staffers and you only need one to go the wrong way and the
02:34whole industry looks bad and then you have to deal with the narrative that you no longer
02:37can control.
02:38And I think for all these sports leagues, they can't control it anymore.
02:40And you see the major networks outlets writing about this stuff and none of it's good.
02:47Yeah.
