00:00In Venezuela, it was confirmed the release of 136 Orinoco caimans, an endangered species,
00:06in Caicara Channel at Hato Cedral, Apur State.
00:10This action is part of a conservation plan to protect these endemic caimans that inhabit
00:14lowlands of the Orinoco River basin, the largest in the country and one of the most abundant
00:21in the world.
00:22This is the third consecutive year in which this activity is carried out with the active
00:26participation of the community, governmental and non-governmental organizations, as well
00:29as public and private companies, and a joint initiative for the conservation of this vulnerable
00:34species.
00:35According to the Ministry of Eco-Socialism, José Larca, more than 12,000 caimans have
00:40been released to date, and another 520 are expected to be released during the year 2024.
00:50The Bolivarian government since the beginning has started a strengthening program, and today
00:54there are more than 12,000 specimens released throughout the Orinoco River Basin.
00:58Today, we are releasing 136 at Hato Cedral Ranch, in conjunction with a private company
01:03with which we have been in alliance, that is the Hatchery at Random.
01:07This year, we plan to release more than 520 specimens, which will be added to the 12,000
01:11that we have already released during this time.
