00:00So let's touch on the NBA and talk about the first couple of games of the NBA

00:07finals. Pretty robust audience it looks like here over 12 million peaking at 14

00:12million. Simon, where does that sort of stand amongst a past series and where do

00:16you think the ratings are showing here? Well game two on Sunday night was up 3%

00:22from a year ago and it was the highest rated game two since 2019. Contrast that

00:28with game one which was as you mentioned 11 million home many many viewers excuse

00:33me on ABC and that was double digit below game one of last year and the

00:39lowest rated game one since 2021. I think the key is going to be tonight if the

00:45Celtics win whether it's by a blowout or a close game I think the viewership

00:49numbers will fall and I have to tell you so far in terms of coverage Mike Breen

00:54who last month won the play-by-play sports Emmy Award here in New York great

00:57job Doris Burke and JJ Reddick doing very well jelling each other however you

01:02mentioned before the break a drove of fans where there are drove of fans on

01:06social media who are very upset with ABC's halftime show. Why? Because it's

01:10mostly commercials where you have Malika Andrews, Michael Wilbon, Stephen A Smith,

01:14Bob Myers and the guest who was one of the stars of the Knicks series with the

01:18Pacers getting just like two minutes or less to talk about the first half only

01:23one highlight and the rest commercials and promos. It is really ticking off a

01:27lot of fans and ABC has got to be aware of this. This is another example of how

01:32commercialism is really screwing up sports coverage where you have for

01:36example timeouts I saw one on the Sunday night game game two where it was a time

01:41out and the commercial break was four and a half to five minutes this was

01:44early in the game something has got to be done about too many commercial breaks

01:49and too many commercials in a break they are a big turnoff to sports fans and

01:53this halftime thing has got to be addressed and be addressed starting

01:56tonight.
