00:00Well, Lee, it is Wembley for Leeds United.
00:05They've gone one better than they did in the playoffs back in 2019 against Derby, of course.
00:11And Wembley is what is to come for Leeds in the playoff final, having beaten Norwich 4-0 in the second leg.
00:19It was quite the display at Elland Road, of course, after the 0-0 at Carroll Road,
00:24where Leeds seemed to be showing signs of resurgence after a slump right at the wrong time at the end of the season.
00:32It all came up in the right way for them.
00:35And as I say, a 4-0 win to round off the semifinals and get them to Wembley.
00:40How do you react on that one?
00:42Yeah, it was absolutely incredible. It was just not what I expected at all, really.
00:46I think everybody knew Leeds were capable of that.
00:49And that was the big sort of million dollar question going into the game, wasn't it?
00:52Can they get back to even something like that?
00:54Yeah, what we got was something like that with bells on it.
00:57That was definitely the best performance of the season.
00:59And it's just left everybody with a massive spring in the step going into the playoff final,
01:05which is funny, really, because obviously when Leeds were consigned to the playoffs,
01:08it felt like everybody was dreading them a bit.
01:10And obviously there is still one game to go and it could ultimately still all end in really awful tears.
01:15But let's hope not. We'll come to the playoff final in a minute.
01:17But based on that display, they should be going into it very, very confident.
01:21No matter who they're playing, I mean, whether it was Southampton or West Brom,
01:24because if they play like that, they're going to take an awful lot of stopping.
01:27And yeah, we said beforehand, obviously the Norwich goalless draw was a step in the right direction,
01:33but the bar was set pretty low, et cetera, because of recent performances.
01:37But the key thing really was they needed to get clicking in an attacking gear.
01:40And obviously they definitely did that. I mean, four goals.
01:42And it's no exaggeration, really, to say that could have been...
01:45You can get carried away watching displays, but that could have been six or seven quite easily.
01:48You know, I mean, Norwich were awful. They were really poor.
01:50Obviously David Wagner paid the price by getting sacked.
01:52And that was probably a bit of a surprise.
01:54But I don't think that's just on the back of that one display.
01:57But I mean, it was just a ruthless display by Leeds. Absolutely all over them.
02:00I mean, the biggest one, there was 11 shots on target compared to one for Norwich.
02:04I mean, that's a big stat in itself. 18 shots compared to four and then 58% possession.
02:09Sort of all the stuff you'd expect, but just a little bit more obviously going forward.
02:13And taking the chances, or at least most of them, as I said, they could have taken even more.
02:17And yeah, I mean, we'll come to the atmosphere in a minute, which was absolutely amazing.
02:21I mean, that really did set the tone for the evening, I think.
02:23I mean, it's interesting what Patrick Bamford said about that, which we'll come to that in a minute.
02:27But just a really, really good performance. A very unladder.
02:29I think many people would have had Ilya Gruev, the first scorer, obviously with his free kick.
02:34But that was nicely worked. Obviously, he caught Angus Gunn napping a little bit.
02:38And then obviously he won 0-0 and then Peru with the second goal. Really nice finish.
02:42And the thing is, though, you can't forget that the big moment in that match,
02:45although Leeds absolutely romped to victory 4-0, the big moment in that match was the Melies save,
02:50because obviously 2-0 and if that gets scored, it's 2-1 and all of a sudden nerves can set in a little bit.
02:55And you've got to remember in the Derby playoff semi going back to 2019, which you alluded to then,
03:00Leeds were obviously 1-0 up beforehand and then 2-0 up and still went out.
03:04So, you know, even 2-1, if that Melies save doesn't happen, it could soon change.
03:09But it didn't. And obviously, Routier with the third and then Somerville after the break to make it 4-0.
03:13And even then there was loads of other missed chances and stuff.
03:16And it was just one-way traffic, really. And that's what you want to see.
03:19And it's, I don't know, it's hard to put your finger on sort of like why it suddenly happened or why it suddenly clicked.
03:24But I mean, all you can do is say fair play, because obviously I think a lot of people were worried about the playoffs
03:29and the sort of nerves and everything that goes with it. But I mean, everything clicks there.
03:33And the thing with it is, a few people said this and it's true.
03:36It was just one of those games where you went down the ratings or the players and everybody had a really good game.
03:42You know, like everybody was at least an 8 or a 9 out of 10.
03:44And, you know, if you do that, then obviously what the players' leads have got, let alone the options on the bench,
03:49then more often than not, they're going to come out with victories at this level.
03:53So, excellent display. It was a brilliant night. You know, a real pleasure to be there.
03:57As I say, we'll come on to the fans and the atmosphere in a minute.
04:00But yeah, I mean, they're hard to predict this team. They really are.
04:04I mean, it wasn't not so much during that run, obviously, at the start of the year.
04:07And it went so long on beat and you kind of knew what you were going to get.
04:09But at the moment, you sort of don't, you know.
04:11And I've got to admit, I went to that game and I wasn't feeling optimistic at all.
04:15You know, I was fully prepared for Leeds to go out and how wrong I was.
04:19And I'm glad that I was wrong because obviously now we're heading to Wembley and hopefully to the Premier League.
04:23But I mean, that'll be a hard game. We'll come to Southampton in a minute.
04:26But yeah, full credit to Leeds, full credit to Daniel Farke and full credit to the fans as we'll come to now.
04:31Because that was a special night.
