00:03 So right after another major championship in golf,

00:06 a stacked event this week on the PGA Tour.

00:09 One of the historic stops every single season,

00:13 we go to Colonial in Dallas for the Charles Schwab Challenge.

00:17 Keith Stewart joins us for a second consecutive segment to look at a new week

00:21 on the PGA Tour.

00:23 In Keith back in Dallas, Scotty Scheffler returns home to his newborn and

00:28 his wife after a tumultuous week in Louisville.

00:32 But as we shared a very strong final round that reminds why Scotty Scheffler

00:37 is the best golfer on planet Earth at this moment.

00:40 And then you see the odds for the Charles Schwab Challenge,

00:44 where Scotty Scheffler is plus 260 and

00:47 everybody else is 12 to 1 or greater than that.

00:52 So Keith, I ask you first, how do you expect Scotty Scheffler to perform

00:56 after the week at Valhalla back near his home?

00:59 >> Scotty Scheffler likes to win.

01:03 And the only reason he didn't win last week was because he was processed.

01:06 I mean, at the end of the day, he would have definitely won that tournament and

01:10 everyone on property feels the same way.

01:12 And even Xander would say, hey, the door was open, there was an opportunity because

01:16 all the controversy that was circling around him, and

01:19 I was able to get through and win and beat Bryson.

01:22 I mean, all of those guys were thankful for that.

01:24 I mean, just look at this odds board.

01:26 Look how long all the other odds are versus Scotty.

01:29 Scotty, this place, they've come here for what, 77 years, but

01:35 in the 78th, they've done a complete transformation to this golf course.

01:39 Gilhans, the architect who did Southern Hills, he did the Country Club,

01:42 a couple of majors over the last few years.

01:44 He has restored this place back to the days of Ben Hogan.

01:47 And in doing so, he's only made it easier for Scotty Scheffler to win.

01:52 He's put more of an emphasis on approach.

01:54 The second thing is that you're gonna need a new game plan.

01:57 These guys that have been coming here for four, five, seven years,

02:00 whoever in the field, this is gonna be a new setting for them.

02:03 They have to figure out the layout, what changes have been made.

02:07 And of course, I mean, Gilhans, he restored the golf course and

02:10 he made it shorter, guys.

02:12 I mean, how many times do we hear that, right?

02:14 So obviously, this is gonna be a thinking man's opportunity,

02:17 of which Scotty is the best in the field at.

02:19 And scoring wise, it's not the longest golf course in the world.

02:23 Scotty's the best scorer, short game wise, and

02:25 not necessarily always with the putter.

02:27 But boy, he is some cerebral golfer.

02:30 And if we're making this a challenge about adaptability and approach,

02:34 then I mean, Scheffler's odds are actually very accurate.

02:37 >> It's pretty crazy, he's a plus 260 to win this week, which is incredible when

02:41 you think about Morikawa at a 12 to 1 price speed at a 20 to 1.

02:44 We haven't seen these type of numbers in a long, long time.

02:47 But tell us a little bit about that golf course and how it plays out.

02:50 And also, Keith, are there any chances down the line for

02:53 some longer shots to try to win this, knowing as what you just said,

02:56 it's not the same golf course that we're used to seeing over the past couple years?

02:59 >> Well, Donnie, if we go back, let's say a decade,

03:03 the average winner's odds is somewhere in the plus 4,000 range.

03:07 So we have seen some longer shots.

03:09 I mean, just a year ago, we had Emiliano Grillo win and he was triple digits.

03:13 So it can definitely happen here.

03:14 And it has a lot to do with the fact that the skill set that is needed

03:18 is such on the PGA Tour that a lot of guys have it, right?

03:23 Almost the majority of the approach shots, roughly 45% of the approach shots,

03:27 are going to be coming in from that 125 to 175 range.

03:30 Well, you're not on the tour if you're not very good in that range, right?

03:33 A lot of accuracy off the tee, length isn't as needed as it was a week ago.

03:38 So this really kind of fits in the wheelhouse of a lot of the guys that

03:42 I'm favoring as early leans because they are just absolutely excellent approach

03:46 players and when they get the ball on the green,

03:49 they can score and capitalize on those birdie chances.

03:52 >> So here it is, the early leans on the early line.

03:56 Keith, who are some golfers that you're looking at this week at Colonial?

03:59 >> Right there in the middle of the board, I see tremendous value.

04:03 The first one's Tom Hoagie.

04:05 I am ready for a Hoagie sandwich this week down there in Fort Worth.

04:08 I mean, this guy, he is a top three approach player on tour, and

04:12 we're including Scotty in that conversation and Xander in that conversation.

04:16 This guy just leads the field in radar and

04:19 accuracy when you're talking about hitting his eight iron, his nine iron, his wedge.

04:23 He's excellent.

04:23 He's proven it before at Pebble Beach, which is another positional golf course.

04:27 The second guy, Taylor Moore, 12th last week at Valhalla.

04:31 Great short game, great iron player, plus 6,600.

04:35 This guy won at the Valspar, which is another great comp for here.

04:38 Get the ball to play off the tee, and then attack, attack, attack with that iron play.

04:43 >> Keith, did you know that Donny Rightside used to own a chain of Hoagie shops

04:48 in South Jersey?

04:49 >> I did not, but you know what?

04:53 If I were him, I would be investing in more sandwiches this week in Fort Worth.

04:58 There's no doubt about that.

05:00 >> No mayo on that Hoagie.

05:01 >> Almost seems serendipitous.

05:02 >> Remember that.

05:02 >> No mayo, no mayo.

05:05 Keith, never forget that.

05:07 No mayo on the Hoagie, only a Tom, and

05:10 maybe a winner this week at the Charles Schwab Challenge.
