A guide for voters ahead of the mayoral election

00:00 If you haven't done so already, now is the time to mark this Thursday, May 2nd in your calendars

00:07 as it's time for the London's Mayoral and General Assembly elections.

00:12 Since May 9th 2016, Sadiq Khan has been Mayor of London

00:18 and this election will determine whether or not he serves for a third term.

00:22 So ahead of Thursday's vote, here is everything you need to know about the London Mayoral elections.

00:28 You'll need to head to your local polling station with a valid photo ID.

00:34 Head to Londonworld.com for a full list of IDs that are accepted.

00:37 They do include a passport and a driver's licence.

00:41 The ballot paper is usually pink and this year it will feature 13 candidates.

00:46 You can select one and only one by marking their box with an X.

00:50 This year polling stations are open from 7am to 10pm

00:54 and remember dogs are also allowed in polling stations.

00:58 Unfortunately they can't cast a vote though.

01:02 Your nearest polling station will be on a slip you might have received if you have registered to vote.
