00:00 Sadiq Khan has revealed a first look at proposals for Superloop 2, the next stage in rolling
00:06 out the Superloop bus network should he be re-elected on the 2nd May.
00:12 The London Mayor announced these plans saying the Superloop has been such a success that
00:18 he wants even more Londoners all across the city to now reap the benefits.
00:23 The Superloop has reportedly added more than 6 million bus kilometres to the capital's
00:28 bus network since it launched last year, with demand in the initial routes 15% higher than
00:34 the network average.
00:37 The existing SL7 route, which runs from Heathrow to West Croydon, saw a 56% increase in ridership
00:44 between June and November following its rebrand and increase in frequency.
00:49 Now between East Croydon and Bromley, south journey times have been cut by around 35%
00:55 according to statistics from TfL.
00:57 Sadiq Khan has now asked Transport for London to put together plans for the expansion of
01:03 the Superloop network.
01:05 All routes will be subject to consultation but initial plans include exploring routes
01:11 including Harrow to Barnet via Edgware, South Havering to Leytonstone via Romford, Hounslow
01:18 to Hammersmith, Streatham to Eltham via Catford, Ealing to Kingston via Richmond.
01:25 A number of factors will be considered before confirming final proposals, including road
01:30 sustainability, interaction with other transport modes, how they serve town centres and other
01:36 key locations.
01:38 New Superloop 2 routes would be paid for within the existing TfL budgets.
01:43 Sadiq Khan said "The success of Superloop is one of his proudest achievements as London
01:48 Mayor, connecting Londoners to key locations in outer London and getting more people onto
01:53 public transport.
