00:00 Aston Villa were dispatched away at Premier League champions Manchester City on Wednesday night.
00:05 The final score being 4-1. Phil Foden the hat-trick hero, Rodri the opening goal scorer and just an all-round brilliant player in the middle of the park.
00:14 Villa just couldn't touch him. Douglas Luiz having quite a poor game in the middle of the park.
00:18 And a heavily rotated Villa side. Unai Emery admitting after the game he had to make lots of changes.
00:23 Obviously injuries, taking a hold and an experiment maybe. An opportunity to train and practice players against top opposition ahead of a run of tough games ahead of the rest of the season.
00:35 It was Emi Martinez who was meant to make the starting line-up tonight but he had to fall out of it because of illness.
00:40 He was named in the starting eleven and then taken out shortly beforehand.
00:44 Robin Olsen coming in and a lot of doubt from Villa fans I think when the Swede was named.
00:49 Because he's not had the best performances in the Villa top to say the least in his recent appearances.
00:54 But when he did come in he made a difference I think in terms of the game not going away from Villa earlier.
01:00 4-1, quite a comprehensive result but if it wasn't for Robin Olsen making some vital saves in the first half it could have been a lot more of a comfortable win for Man City.
01:08 Things could have got quite embarrassing. I believe it was six or seven saves Robin Olsen made in the end keeping the score down.
01:15 I don't think it deserved to be any more than 4-1. Villa pressed well. Tim O'Rourke in the middle had a decent game.
01:21 Obviously a very heavily rotated team. A lack of experience in there. Some youngsters getting game time.
01:28 Some fringe players like Calum Chambers coming in at the end. Clauman Longley starting. Diego Carlos who's not had that much football in the grand scheme of things starting the game as well.
01:37 I don't think they deserved really to be completely dispatched here.
01:42 As it was though Man City did dominate the game. Had fantastic possession throughout. Created so many opportunities.
01:49 Olsen as I mentioned making those saves to keep the score down.
01:52 One consolation I think John Duran having a decent performance in Ollie Watkins' place.
01:58 Starting up top Morgan Rodgers just in behind and those two combined really well for Villa scoring to make it 1-1 in the 19th minute.
02:06 Quite a lot of hope actually for the Villans at that point. John Duran running forward just a few minutes after a failed acrobatic effort.
02:13 A 1-2-3 with Morgan Rodgers who had ran through the middle.
02:17 A really nice finish actually into the far corner to beat Stefan Ortega who another goalkeeper who had a very good game tonight making a few saves.
02:25 John Duran did beat him though on that occasion to give Villa hope.
02:28 Of course things did run away. Phil Foden scoring at Hat-Trick.
02:32 First goal being from a free kick. Douglas Dewey giving it away and then fouling Foden on the edge of the area.
02:39 And then Nicolo Zaniolo, my word, I'm not sure what he was doing but he stepped away from the wall just as Foden took it.
02:46 Leaving a gap between him and Konza and the ball went into the corner.
02:50 So that was a big fault from Zaniolo for that goal. And the other two were just pure brilliance.
02:55 Rodgerie some great play in the lead up to Foden's second. Foden hitting it in off the post to make it 3-1.
03:01 And then the fourth goal for Manchester City was just outstanding again from Foden.
03:06 Taking it into his stride and shooting with so much power despite stepping over.
03:10 He got it into that top corner and putting the game beyond doubt.
03:13 What a performance from Foden. A tough night for Villa here but some sympathy I think for how much it was rotated.
03:20 And Emery admitting it was a bit of a practice session ahead of a more important game for them.
03:25 A more winnable one against Brentford on Saturday.
