Family and friends came out today to celebrate the life of the man who founded Mario's Pizzeria.

Richard Harford passed away on March 22nd, just two weeks shy of his 80th birthday.

00:51 To many, Harford was the man who turned an ice cream shop
00:54 into what's now known as Mario's Pizzeria.
00:58 His staff loved him.
01:02 He looked after many traumas in their lives that they could not meet.
01:08 Burying their fathers and mothers, paying for urgent medical operations
01:13 and sending children and grandchildren to school.
01:17 To his loved ones, Big Slice as he was fondly known
01:21 was a man with dedication, grit, a hard worker
01:25 and a family man.
