06:28 We are seeing flower offerings to the coffin where the remains of the Commander Hugo Chavez remain in this hall of the four elements.
06:36 The music that we were listening was to the tune of a young musician.
06:41 I don't know if you noticed the young man that was wearing the red shirt playing the flute.
06:46 That was Chavez's grandson that was joining here the cultural activities for this special homage.
06:52 These are images that we are getting live from Caracas as the citizens,
06:57 not only in Venezuela but also around the world, they remember the legacy of Commander Hugo Chavez
07:02 and its importance and its impact it had not only for Venezuela but for the whole region.
07:08 Today we are commemorating 11 years of the physical departure of the Commander from life.
07:15 [Music]
07:25 These activities, the main activities are taking place in the 4F Mountain Barracks,
07:31 also known as the Military Historical Museum, which is a multipurpose building that is located in the Monte Piedad,
07:39 in the January 23rd parish of the Libertador Municipality in the capital of the country, Caracas,
07:46 which is a structure that dates back to the year 1906.
07:49 It was built between the governments of Cipriano Castro and Juan Vicente Gómez,
07:55 and has served as the headquarters of the Military Historical Museum since 1981.
07:58 This is also the place from where Hugo Chavez, back in 1992, led the then failed coup d'état
08:05 to try to end the government that was in that moment by pressing Carlos Andrés Pérez,
08:10 the neoliberal government that was harming the people of Venezuela.
08:14 That was the beginning of the Bolivarian Revolution.
08:18 And from there, later in 2002, that's from where President, in that moment, President Chavez,
08:24 made his program a lo presidente, to commemorate the 10 years of that failed coup d'état
08:29 that signaled the beginning of the Bolivarian Revolution.
08:33 In 2013, after his physical departure, President Nicolás Maduro decided to adapt this area, this space,
08:40 to function as a mausoleum, where objects related to the life of the deceased president
08:45 would be exhibited, preserving its condition as a military museum.
08:49 In addition, the works commissioned were commissioned to a Venezuelan architect.
08:55 His name was Fruto Vivas, and in several rooms he took part of his art
09:01 to remember this important historical figure for Venezuela and for the rest of the world,
09:07 especially for Latin America, and his struggle to achieve Latin American integration
09:12 for the betterment of the people of the region, and looking for peace and independence
09:16 and protect the sovereignty of the peoples of the region.
09:20 So since March 15, 2013, this room that we're seeing live on our screens,
09:26 called the Flower of the Four Elements, that's where the sarcophagus is in the middle,
09:31 where you see the people paying their homage, their respect to Commander Hugo Chávez,
09:37 the sarcophagus of the four elements, the four elements of nature, fire, wind, earth, and water.
09:44 It's all part of the different activities that are being held on this day
09:49 to honor the legacy of Commander Hugo Chávez.
09:52 Earlier during the day, on Twitter, different personalities, different figures,
09:57 took to Twitter to signal and express their love and gratitude to the work of Commander Hugo Chávez,
10:03 such was the case of President Nicolás Maduro, who earlier in the day tweeted,
10:08 "We have a revolution destined to advance with the truth and social justice
10:13 that our Commander Hugo Rafael Chávez Friga taught us.
10:16 We Venezuelans will continue defending his image and his legacy.
10:21 Long live the homeland of Bolívar and Chávez."
10:24 This was tweeted by the now President of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro,
10:29 marking this special day of remembrance.
10:33 Also on Twitter, on X, President of Cuba Miguel Díaz-Canel sent a message of love
10:40 and solidarity with the Venezuelan people.
10:43 On X, the Cuban President said, "Our generation will always celebrate the opportunity we had
10:49 to live the time of two giants of the revolution and Latin American integration,
10:54 Fidel Castro and Hugo Chávez, 11 years after the physical departure of Cuba's best friend,
11:00 our emotional embrace to Venezuela."
11:03 This is what President of Cuba Miguel Díaz-Canel said on X today,
11:07 on this occasion of the 11th anniversary of the physical departure of Commander Hugo Chávez Friga.
11:14 "We must remember the importance of this man that had for the region and for the world,
11:20 it is in unison between Chávez and Fidel Castro from Cuba,
11:25 that they start leading the charge to succeed in integrating, in unifying the region.
11:32 We must remember the creation of ALBA, which was created by Venezuela, the Homs,
11:37 together with Cuba, which was a mechanism that would foster integration
11:42 and cooperation between the countries of the region to try to get away from the neoliberal policies
11:49 of the United States empire and how it affected the people back then to try to bring all these people out.
11:57 Let's continue listening to the music being held in the area."
12:09 "It is also Hugo Chávez, Rafael Friga, together with Cuba that led other projects.
12:14 We can recall about Operación Milagro, Miracle Operations, translated from Spanish to English,
12:21 which was a project to bring sight back to the people completely for free.
12:26 At the beginning thousands and thousands of people got free surgeries on their eyes
12:31 so that they could recover the sight and see the world again the way they did before losing it.
12:36 And like that many projects, many programs that were intended to help the community,
12:41 not only of Venezuelans but also of the people of the region to bring them together and out of poverty
12:49 and improve their welfare and their way of living.
12:54 We are seeing in our live images here on our screen how different sectors, in this case the military,
13:00 which is the one we are seeing now, are all paying tribute to Commander Hugo Rafael Chávez Friga
13:08 on this occasion of the 11th anniversary of the physical departure of Commander Hugo Chávez,
13:15 all taking place at the mausoleum in the 4F Mountain Barrack, the place where his remains rest.
13:22 In this sarcophagus, in this beautiful room, that is called the Room of the Flowers of the Four Elements.
13:33 The image we are seeing is Chávez's grandson, the musician that was playing the flute during these celebrations,
13:39 being embraced as he finally finished playing the songs.
13:44 The pieces, the music pieces that were being the background of this emotional and felt homage
13:52 that is being prayed to the commander of the Bolivarian Revolution that launched a new era,
13:57 a new future for the Venezuelan people.
14:06 And like this, different cultural events are being held in Venezuela and other parts of the world as well
14:11 to homage the commander of the Bolivarian Revolution, Hugo Rafael Chávez Friga.
14:16 And there's also a plan and mobilization that will come from different corners of Caracas
14:21 and they will walk and gather here at the 4F Mountain Barrack, where the main event,
14:27 the main activities are going to be held later in the afternoon at roughly around 4.30 in the afternoon, local time.
14:36 There will be a salute, a gun salute in honor of the Venezuelan leader
14:41 and blanks will be fired to pay homage to the Bolivarian leader.
14:48 [Silence]
15:08 We continue with the image of the room of the flower of the four elements
15:12 where the sarcophagus of Hugo Chávez is and where he remains since 2013.
15:19 After his passing, this area was turned into the mausoleum.
15:23 It was previously a museum, which still is the Museum of Historical Military,
15:27 but it was also adapted as the mausoleum because this is the area where Chávez led the coup d'état of 1992 of the 4F
15:36 that did not succeed at the moment but paved the way for the new change of government of the Bolivarian society.
15:44 [Silence]
15:47 This is all part of the activities that are being held in honor of the 11th anniversary
15:53 of the physical departure of Commander Hugo Chávez Rafael Fría.
15:57 We're going to continue updating this piece of news over the day,
16:01 so stay tuned with TREASURE English for more updates on this important day.
