00:12 I'm at Southwark Tube Station, not normally where you'd come to hear live music, but just behind me
00:19 down these escalators, Transport for London is owning its first additions since well before
00:24 the pandemic, as it helps us for the next generation of tube buskers.

00:37 I just hope and I hope that it went well, everyone seemed nice, some people walked by and enjoyed it,
00:42 no one said they hated it or anything, so I think it went well.
00:45 I'm really blown away with the quality of the music I've heard so far,
00:48 this is the first time the busking audition's ever been since the pandemic,
00:53 we've had about 450 people apply, so really like great can of energy for busking to get back on the underground.
00:59 About 280 buskers will perform to a panel of judges over the next 10 days at a number of
01:06 different tube stations, at stake is the right to win a pitch to perform to Londoners as they
01:13 make their way across the tube network, but there's an even bigger prize at stake, the cherry on the
01:19 cake if you like, because for the first time busker pitches will also be available on the Elizabeth Line,
01:25 the busiest rail line in the country.
