00:00Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor may have been formally stripped of his royal title but he has gained a
00:05hyphen to his new commoner name. On October 30th the decision was made to remove Andrew from the
00:10monarchy following scrutiny over his alleged association with convicted paedophile Geoffrey
00:15Epstein. But when Andrew's new name was announced there was no sight of the punctuation mark in his
00:21surname. That hyphen was originally introduced 65 years ago by his mother the late Queen Elizabeth
00:27II as a gesture to Prince Philip who reportedly joked he felt like an amoeba when he learned
00:32their children wouldn't carry his surname. After reviewing the 1960 Privy Council declaration
00:38the palace has now confirmed that the hyphen will in fact be used going forward.
