As Rachel Reeves abandons plan to raise income tax in Budget U-turn, Culture Secretary Lisa Nandy tells Sky News that Reeves is "completely focused" on the public interest. Nandy refused to speculate about the finer details of the upcoming budget.

00:00We had the Chancellor just a little while ago saying that we all have to play our part in all
00:04of this and now this reporting that one of the main levers, one of the ways of filling that
00:09fiscal black hole of some 30 billion that you say is there, is not going to be taken. It doesn't
00:14seem as if you quite know what you're doing. I've known the Chancellor well for 15 years now and I
00:21can tell you that she is solely and fiercely focused on the challenges facing the country
00:28and doing what is in the best interests of the country. She's never been shy of facing
00:32people down in order to do that in opposition and in government and over the course of the
00:39last few weeks obviously I've had some discussions with her and her team about measures in the
00:45budget that may affect my department, proposals that we're making and discussions that ordinarily
00:50happen across government and in every one of those discussions it's been the public
00:54interests that she's completely focused on.
