Glenn Howerton talks about his nomination for 'BlackBerry' at the Film Independent Spirit Awards. Plus, his wife Jill Latiano Howerton dishes on witnessing this successful moment for Glenn.

00:06 It's the last stop!

00:07 I think it is. This might be the last hurrah.

00:10 We weren't nominated for an Academy Award.

00:14 Boo.

00:16 But we're nominated for something even better.

00:19 An Independent Spirit Award. Well, I'm nominated.

00:22 Yes.

00:24 Now that you've made it through these past couple months,

00:26 I guess what's been the most surprising or most memorable experience of the recognition for this movie

00:33 and being included in all these, you know, big dances?

00:37 The most memorable part of it has just been having the opportunity to meet so many other artists that I've respected throughout the years

00:44 and having interactions with people that I just have so much admiration for.

00:49 To be walking amongst some of these artists is just a tremendous honor.

00:55 I mean, it makes the kid, Kid Glenn, I want to look back and I want to tell Kid Glenn,

01:00 you know what I mean? Your dreams are going to come true. It can be quite emotional, actually.

01:06 And Jill, I have to ask you too, because you've been along for this too. I know you guys have worked together.

01:10 But knowing him the way you do personally and professionally,

01:14 what's been the surprising thing for you about just witnessing this moment for him?

01:17 The most meaningful thing.

01:19 It's been such a joy to watch because I've watched Glenn work so hard for so many years.

01:24 He cares so much about his craft and what he does and puts so much love and energy into every role that he plays.

01:30 So to see him finally getting some recognition, I know he gets recognition and everyone loves Sonny,

01:35 but to get this kind of recognition is another level.

01:38 And I know that he deserves it and it's been really nice to be able to witness it

01:46 and to see that he's still the same guy, you know?

01:48 Super grateful and honored and it's just been a really nice thing to watch.

01:53 And I know that's like the long-running joke about Sonny not getting the recognition.

01:59 It feels criminal, which is the most obvious statement.

02:02 But has it changed your view now that you've sort of been through this a little bit more?

02:05 Or would that still feel nice?

02:07 Of course it would feel nice. Yeah, definitely.

02:10 It's a funny thing. It's like we're both defiant about it and also sad about it at the same time.

02:16 It always feels good to get the recognition of the business that you're in.

02:22 It's just a good feeling and to not get it is not a great feeling.

02:26 That being said, I've had the great fortune of having so many

02:31 incredible, intimate interactions with so many of our fans throughout the years,

02:36 especially now that we've been going around with this whiskey company that we started.

02:39 We're meeting so many people and hearing so many wonderful stories.

02:43 And that impact that we've had on our audience over the last 20 years,

02:46 it really doesn't get better than that. It really doesn't.

02:50 Tell me about that whiskey brand. You've been still making some rounds for that. How's it going?

02:53 It seems to be going very well. People are embracing it.

02:57 I think the best part about it, honestly, is it's really good whiskey.

02:59 It's called Four Walls. It's an Irish-American whiskey.

03:02 It's a blend that we've been trying to put together for the last three years.

03:07 And it's taken us a really long time. As these things do, you have to build them from the ground

03:11 up. But me, Rob and Charlie, we love building things together. And we wanted to build something

03:16 that felt like a physical or let's say a liquid manifestation of the show.

03:21 And I wanted to ask you, this is my last question, I wanted to ask you that night,

03:24 you know, after leading a TV show and creating a TV show, like writing it, you know, taking a

03:30 smaller role is not something that everybody would have done. So now that you did it, you knocked it

03:35 out of the park, you've gotten all this recognition, has it influenced at all sort of the roles you're

03:39 going to go after next and not thinking so much on like where you are on the call sheet, but just

03:43 what it is and what you get to offer?

03:46 I've never cared about where I am on the call sheet. Truly, I mean that.

03:49 What I care about is working with people that I enjoy working with, and working with incredibly

03:56 intelligent people that push me, and that allow me to push them. And that we challenge each other,

04:01 push each other to become better versions of ourselves as artists. And, you know, that's the

04:05 only thing I really care about. So as long as I can find people I can continue to work with that

04:09 give me that feeling, where I feel like I'm being challenged and heard, then, you know, I'm excited

04:15 to work in almost any genre.
