It's a very exciting day because we've seen great progress with the $15 million investment
00:06
in the helipad for Launceston, for the Launceston General Hospital.
00:10
This is a state of the art project.
00:12
We've got the best, not just the best brains, but the best workers in the country delivering
00:18
this helipad.
00:19
It's a $15 million investment.
00:22
We expect it to be complete by mid-year and around mid-year.
00:26
We want to deliver the right health care in the right place at the right time.
00:30
When Tasmanians are out in the bush or have an accident far away from a major city, they
00:35
will be able to get access to the Launceston General Hospital and our major hospitals as
00:41
a result of our helipads.
00:43
The positioning of the helipad has been carefully selected to minimise travel time.
00:48
Through the aerobrids that I'm leading up against, which are 16 metres, to connect the
00:52
helideck into a brand new lift shaft.
00:54
That drops down to level 2 of the Launceston General Hospital D-block.
00:57
And then it's fast transferred through to emergency on level 3, ICU on level 4 and theatres
01:03
on level 5.
01:04
So the patients can get immediately to be where they need to be in the hospital.
01:08
We've made sure that the helipad's able to take in the larger Victorian helicopter,
01:12
which is currently larger than used in Tasmania, but also likely to be the standard of helicopter
01:16
used in Tasmania in the future.
01:18
So it's slightly larger than other helipads that are in the state, but it gives us some
01:22
future proofing and gives us some confidence that it can be well used for a long time to come.
01:27
Combined with our subcontractors, suppliers and everyone else that's partnered with us,
01:31
we are anticipating around 240 positions to be engaged through this project, which is
01:36
really important for us as a business to keep investing in our people, taking on new apprentices
01:41
and also providing confidence to the industry in general.
01:45
This is also a really exciting project, something that's as visible as this and as prominent
01:51
and it's going to play such an important role in the community.
01:54
We're really excited to be part of it and look forward to seeing its completion mid-year.
01:58
Thank you.
