ACT Health Minister Rachel Stephen-Smith defends the helipad at Canberra Hospital's new Critical Services Building, saying no patients have been harmed because some rescue pilots do not want to use the parking pad.

00:00Well, I would be really clear that there is no problem with the helipad design at Canberra Hospital.
00:04It was done in close collaboration with civil aviation engineers,
00:09as well as with our emergency services, New South Wales ambulance and the helicopter providers.
00:15There has been some issues around whether pilots are willing to use the parking pad,
00:21but the helipad is in use. It has not disrupted any clinical care,
00:25and I think suggesting that it's been somehow poorly designed or that it has a problem
00:30is not a very responsible thing, and we know that Canberrans rely on this helipad
00:35and people in the surrounding region rely on it to get both to Canberra
00:39as the critical tertiary trauma hospital for the surrounding region
00:43and also to get patients to see when that's your advice.
