00:17 But according to Olympic power broker John Coates, that it just doesn't stack up financially

00:23 There's too many budget blowouts when they're doing the costings for the Gabba now.
00:28 And there's also disputes with other venues as well.
00:30 And this just doesn't add up at the moment.
00:33 He's supported in this thought by Adrian Schrinner.
00:37 So he is the mayor of Brisbane.
00:39 He thinks that the project is dead.
00:43 At the moment, there is a 60 day review of all the Olympic venues for the 2032 Olympics
00:48 and Paralympics games going on at the moment.
00:51 That's being conducted by the former Lord Mayor Graham Quirk.
00:54 So we won't have an official decision on this, Lorna, until at least March.
00:59 OK, what would be the Olympic stadium then for Brisbane if it did happen?
01:05 Well John Coates has thrown up, I think, a bit of a curveball with this one, Lorna, because
01:10 he's suggesting what is the home of rugby league in Queensland's and probably the country.
01:17 That is Lane Park.
01:18 So a rectangular stadium.
01:20 I don't think I've seen that before, rectangular stadium hosting the opening and closing ceremony.
01:24 Obviously, the athletics cannot be held there.
01:28 So another venue is being suggested for that.
01:30 And that is the Queensland Sports and Athletics Centre.
01:32 So that is where the 1988 Commonwealth Games was held.
01:36 And it's also what used to be the home of the Brisbane Broncos when Lane Park was being
01:41 redeveloped.
01:42 So that is further out from town, Lorna.
01:44 That's probably about 20 minutes from here and a bit of a distance to get to.
01:48 So interesting decisions.
01:51 But when it comes to the cost of the Gabba, it's looking like it's just too steep to go
01:56 ahead with the original plan.
