00:04 The 29-year-old woman, who we can't identify, has told the New South Wales District Court
00:09 of a night in December 2022 at Bondi's Beach Road Hotel when she met Kirtley Beal.
00:16 She's alleged to the jury that Kirtley Beal groped her buttocks in a bar area of that
00:20 premises while her fiancé was nearby, and later alleged that he sexually assaulted her
00:25 in a male toilet cubicle after she refused his request for oral sex.
00:31 Kirtley Beal has pleaded not guilty to one count of sexual intercourse without consent
00:35 and two counts of sexual touching.
00:37 Now this woman has recalled that when she first saw Mr Beal that night, she told him
00:42 that she liked the suits in his wedding photographs, which she had seen on his Instagram.
00:47 Mr Beal's defence counsel, Margaret Caneen SC, has today suggested that the woman told
00:52 Mr Beal that he looked "hot" in the pictures and that she was flirting with him, but the
00:56 complainant has denied that.
00:58 Ms Caneen has also suggested that she was enjoying Mr Beal's company and that she was
01:03 seeking him out when he wasn't around.
01:05 Similarly, the woman has also denied those suggestions.
01:09 The complainant has also been getting a lot of questions about the broader context of
01:13 this night, and in particular, disagreements that the court has heard about between the
01:18 woman and her fiancé.
01:20 She's denied Ms Caneen's suggestions that the relationship was "going down the gurgler"
01:25 and that she was desperate to try to save the situation.
01:29 This trial is expected to last between two and three weeks.
