00:19 Good afternoon, Ninia, and thank you very much

00:24 for giving us the opportunity to share our activities

00:27 for National Arts Month.

00:30 February is not just Chinese New Year,

00:35 not just Valentine's, but National Arts Month.

00:40 We will be celebrating, and before we discuss the details,

00:45 please give us a background on the importance of this celebration

00:49 and what is the best thing that a person can do for the world?

00:56 That's a good question.

00:58 As far as others know,

01:00 Arts Month is the result of the Presidential Proclamation of 1991

01:04 where February was designated as the National Arts Month.

01:10 This is to recognize the intelligence and skill of Filipinos

01:17 when it comes to the arts.

01:18 That's why in the past years,

01:20 the NCCA or the National Commission for Culture and the Arts,

01:24 which is now the agency of the government,

01:26 has organized various activities and workshops

01:32 where we can spread the importance of the arts to our country

01:38 because the arts reflect our culture and identity.

01:42 Yes, Commissioner, if you don't mind me asking,

01:48 at one point in my life, I also joined the National Commission

01:51 on Culture and Arts.

01:53 Oh wow, really?

01:54 I'm very familiar with the "ani ng sining."

01:57 Comm, what is the theme of National Arts Month?

02:02 Because it's always changing.

02:04 And why did we choose this theme?

02:07 Our theme today is still the same game

02:11 that I'm glad you're part of the NCCA at some point.

02:14 Our theme is still "ani ng sining."

02:16 This is the harnessing,

02:18 the harnessing of the different arts,

02:20 the seven arts that we are working on.

02:23 But we have a tag here, "ani ng sining, bayang malikhain,"

02:28 the concept of the country.

02:30 Because when we talk about diversity,

02:33 one of the most beautiful parts of our society

02:37 that is diverse in everything is culture and culture.

02:40 That's why we want to show the world,

02:42 just like in the Philippines,

02:43 that until now, we are still a country.

02:49 Alright, I'll just share, actually,

02:53 at one point in my life,

02:54 - Oh, right? - You have one too?

02:57 I had the honor of being a recipient

02:59 of the "Ani ng Dangal" Awards.

03:02 So when I was much younger, I wrote an article,

03:13 So it was such a pleasure.

03:15 And of course, if you know me,

03:17 I really love the arts,

03:19 and that's why it's also something that I do

03:24 if you have activities and programs

03:27 that you're preparing for our celebration.

03:34 Our activities,

03:35 we have different things prepared.

03:38 We call these flagship programs.

03:41 And what each committee does,

03:43 these are the committees of music, dance,

03:45 literary arts, visual arts,

03:47 architecture and allied arts,

03:49 cinema and dramatic arts.

03:50 We have four sites throughout the country.

03:54 Our site is Calabarzon.

03:57 These are packets of activities

03:59 in different provinces of Calabarzon.

04:02 We also have one in Ormoc City

04:04 as a site of the Visayas, NAM.

04:06 We also have two sites in Coronadal and Mbanga

04:10 for Mindanao.

04:10 And for NCR,

04:12 we kept the Pasig,

04:15 Rizal National High School,

04:17 where we will hold openings.

04:21 And we have closing ceremonies

04:23 that will be held in Angono, Rizal,

04:25 the Korean arts capital.

04:28 So these are the different activities

04:30 where we have workshops,

04:31 seminars, and performances.

04:34 Earlier, Nina, you mentioned the Ani ng Dangal.

04:36 That's also included.

04:38 We will give awards

04:40 to artists from the past year.

04:43 So we will give awards

04:45 to different artists

04:48 and to other works in the arts.

04:51 This will be held

04:52 in the Metropolitan Theater

04:54 this February 20.

04:56 And no one else,

04:58 but our beloved President,

05:00 will receive the Ani ng Dangal awards.

05:04 Oh, we will be waiting for that.

05:07 Yes, fellow citizens,

05:08 these are the different activities

05:10 of the National Commission on Culture and Arts.

05:12 We hope that you will support them.

05:14 So, Com, there will be an art fair

05:17 in partnership with Lusong Luson Arts

05:21 and Culture Network Incorporated.

05:25 the details of this program?

05:31 This is the leg for the Calabarzon leg

05:36 where we partner also with an organization,

05:39 Lusong Luson,

05:41 where on February 29,

05:44 from 2 to 4 pm

05:47 in Laguna Sports Complex,

05:49 we will have performances

05:52 featuring the artists of Laguna,

05:55 particularly, and also artists

05:57 coming from different parts of Luson.

06:01 Watch out for that.

06:02 We have a rundalia,

06:03 a literature performance,

06:05 there's also agarwood,

06:07 choir, and of course,

06:08 guitar, spoken poetry, and more.

06:11 So, that will be on February 29,

06:13 from 2 o'clock pm in Laguna Sports Complex.

06:18 Commissioner, aside from these celebrations,

06:21 what should we pay attention to

06:24 to conserve, popularize, and promote

06:27 Filipino artistic creations

06:29 as a Filipino?

06:31 That's a good question, Ninia.

06:34 You know, on a serious note,

06:36 we don't just have to rely on

06:38 government agencies.

06:40 When it comes to the arts,

06:41 I think the arts are starting

06:42 in our communities.

06:44 It's not far from us.

06:46 So, our theme today is

06:48 getting to know the arts in the community.

06:51 We also prepared a toolkit.

06:54 Watch out for this.

07:03 or your communities

07:05 to freshen up our different arts.

07:08 But what we're saying about Arts Month,
