00:00 We are the only aquarium in the UK with an indoor botanical house as well.
00:05 We've got thousands of aquatic creatures here, from big to small, that are absolutely fascinating.
00:11 How does an angler fish like its ladies?
00:14 What happens in the love jewel of a flatworm?
00:17 Just how dirty is a dolphin?
00:19 There is loads to do at the adults-only walkthrough here at Bristol Aquarium this Valentine's Day.
00:26 Let's chat to their team to find out more.
00:28 The Valentine's evening event is always a really popular event.
00:32 It's an adults-only evening, so it gives the adults a chance to come in and enjoy the animals in a bit of peace and quiet without the kids.
00:42 It's a bit of a different atmosphere. We've got a botanical house, we've got some open-top tanks, so you get a different view from the animals.
00:49 And then also just the mixture. Some aquariums will just have a big focus on marine animals, or we've got freshwater animals as well as marine animals and some stuff in between as well.
01:00 People come here, they can expect to be amazed, be wondered. They can definitely expect to learn something.
01:06 It's a really great place to come and learn new things. A fantastic place for kids.
01:12 And also a great place to learn about how people can take care of the planet a bit better.
01:19 Sustainability is a really important thing to us.
01:21 So, yeah, learning how to live with the creatures that we share the planet with is definitely something you can find all about.
01:27 Just what types of species can you expect if you visit Bristol's Aquarium?
01:33 Well, let's chat to their team and find out.
01:36 So, for example, in here we've got some mullet. These are the big grey fish. They even in the wild would swim up rivers, so they kind of get rid of parasites that way.
01:47 So they're actually fairly intelligent and they'll move between different environments, so very adaptable.
01:52 And lots of them have their different personalities. So obviously in captivity they sometimes learn who brings them food and who doesn't.
01:59 So you can certainly see when they get most interested on when we're walking around versus the public.
02:03 The urban jungle comes alive at night with mood lighting illuminating the jungle in a mysterious new way.
02:11 And to make the evening even more special, you can create a message in a bottle amongst the wildlife this Valentine's Day.
02:20 And we've also got a message in a bottle, which is a fun little thing that we're doing where you pay a bit extra,
02:28 then you can send your loved one a message in a bottle, send it to us beforehand and it will appear to you in the aquarium as you're walking around.
02:36 So there's lots of cool facts about lots of different animals in terms of how they breed, their relationships with each other.
02:43 One of the nicest ones that I think is this one here, which is about a mandarin fish, which is a species of small little reef fish that you find generally across the Indo-Pacific region.
02:53 And they're very, very small, but bright and colourful. And they have this really, really intricate relationship with each other.
03:00 Very, very cute little fish.
