00:03 2023 was a huge year for intense and wild activity for the sun,
00:07 and it's looking like 2024 is going to be no different.
00:11 This spring there's set to be a total solar eclipse,
00:13 or when the moon will pass between us and the sun.
00:16 However, unlike previous years,
00:17 this one will be passing over some of the country's most populated areas,
00:21 meaning more of us are going to get a chance to see it.
00:24 This is the map showing both the path of 2023's annular solar eclipse on the left,
00:28 or when there is still a bright ring apparent around the moon,
00:31 and the expected path of the 2024 total solar eclipse on the right,
00:36 with NASA programmer Kelly Korik saying about it,
00:38 quote, "This is going to be the most populated eclipse in the U.S.,
00:42 with 31.5 million people able to just walk outside of their homes and experience this event."
00:47 According to experts, once the eclipse begins,
00:50 you will only have three to four minutes to watch it.
00:52 But don't forget your protective eclipse watching glasses,
00:55 and you likely don't want to miss this one either,
00:57 because the next total eclipse set to cross the U.S. isn't for another 20 years.
01:01 2024's total solar eclipse is expected on April 8th.
