00:03there's really no scientific evidence for ghosts but that doesn't mean that after the lights have
00:08gone out many of us don't still believe we've experienced something paranormal but now a new
00:13study might have finally found a link between spooky occurrences and the thing most of us do
00:17when all the lights go out sleep researchers found that among the more than eight thousand
00:21eight hundred and fifty participants those who reported poor sleep quality were more likely to
00:26believe in ghosts demons and life after death they were also more likely to believe in near-death
00:31experiences as evidence of an afterlife and aliens coming to our planet in fact those who believed in
00:36aliens visiting earth were more likely to report having experienced sleep paralysis or exploding
00:41head syndrome a disorder where a mysterious loud noise or the sound of a crash is heard within one's
00:46head with the researchers writing in their paper quote one explanation for these associations is
00:51therefore that someone experiencing sounds or images associated with sleep could interpret this
00:55as evidence that aliens or other supernatural beings exist though they also suggest that it
01:00could be the other way around explaining that one's belief in these paranormal entities might cause
01:05anxiety that reduces their sleep quality still these results could shine a light on not only who is
01:10more predisposed to certain sleep disorders but it may also illuminate new ways to treat them
