00:00 One of the ways for our countrymen to feel the Christmas spirit is to share blessings
00:07 like gift giving.
00:10 You do that in Manila, right?
00:12 Correct, we do that every Christmas.
00:14 But here in RRSP, I went down to different communities and cities
00:19 to distribute gifts and it's really fun
00:22 because you can really see the faces of the recipients of these gifts.
00:27 It's like an angel came down.
00:29 I feel like I'm an angel.
00:30 That's why it's my favorite when I receive gifts.
00:33 I really feel it.
00:34 Well anyway, in the communities, when you experience it,
00:37 the countrymen who give gifts,
00:41 especially our countrymen,
00:43 they don't expect anything.
00:45 They just know to be careful and have a little program.
00:47 And then when they go home, they have something to bring home,
00:50 like groceries or anything that they can use,
00:53 toys, food, clothes.
00:56 It's a big thing. It makes your heart feel full
00:59 because the smiles on their faces
01:01 means that someone remembers them,
01:03 someone cares about them.
01:05 And you know what I noticed this Christmas?
01:07 The Filipinos are simple.
01:09 You don't need to give a lot of things.
01:12 You just give them something that they know you remember them.
01:16 It's a big thing.
01:17 For example, Audrey, I went to Quezon City.
01:20 It was fun because we didn't plan it,
01:23 but we passed by and gave gifts.
01:25 I posted it on Facebook just to say Merry Christmas.
01:28 It went viral.
01:30 So you can really see the Filipinos,
01:32 when they see things like that,
01:34 it's like you're really encouraged to do it more.
01:38 Personally, with that, I realized that I think I should do that more,
01:42 even if it's not Christmas.
01:43 Aside from you,
01:45 the people who will see this will be inspired too.
01:48 That's right.
01:49 They will have a purpose.
01:51 Instead of spending money on things that we already have,
01:55 we should spend it by giving and sharing it to others.
01:59 Correct.
02:00 But you know what?
02:01 I remember when my friends and I had a Christmas party.
02:04 We won money.
02:06 What we did was,
02:08 whoever gets that money will give it to charity.
02:12 So what he did was,
02:13 he went around his village and gave it to charity.
02:17 He was really happy.
02:18 All right.
02:19 Ms. RSP,
02:20 since you're also one of the people who went to the Gawatchi for gift-giving,
02:23 where was the last place you went?
02:25 The last place I went was in Manila.
02:27 It's a barangay that has more or less 100 families.
02:31 We brought food packs and all.
02:34 It was really fun.
02:36 All right. Let's watch this, Ms. RSP.
02:38 We're here now at a mall in Makati for the donation
02:44 of gifts to the less fortunate kids of the barangay population and Santa Ana.
02:48 Let's go and join us to make the kids happy.
02:52 It was fun, exciting, and surprising
03:07 the gift-giving that was made by the group for the kids.
03:11 At the same time, when I see the situation,
03:15 the kids, the poor, are not given the chance to enjoy Christmas
03:21 because they don't have a budget, they don't have parents, etc.
03:25 So we did, starting many years ago, like 10 years ago,
03:28 we said, "We don't have Christmas parties anymore.
03:31 Let's just give it to the kids."
03:34 The group is doing a series of gift-giving in different places
03:38 and they are giving gifts to 5,000 kids.
03:44 In Bohol, and other places, they want to continue this
03:49 so that everybody is healthy.
03:52 In Palawan, they want to have this.
03:57 Sometimes, on their birthdays, they do it on their own.
04:01 Christmas is for the kids.
04:03 You can see Christmas through the eyes of the kids.
04:07 And then number two, God made us, created us, to say,
04:11 "Help those who need. Share what you have."
04:16 What do you feel now that you were given a gift?
04:18 I'm very happy.
04:20 What do you wish for this Christmas?
04:23 I hope we are all happy.
04:26 Meanwhile, a gift-giving was also made by Rotary Club in Makati
04:36 at Pavilion Nueva Elementary School.
04:39 [music]
04:44 Here, we gave out grocery items,
04:48 and we gave out shoes and toys for the kids.
04:53 We are spending money to help the kids
04:56 from the donations of members of Rotary Club.
04:59 We are 84 members, so we are helping everyone
05:02 in whatever way we can.
05:04 Almost 60 kids were given gifts during the gift-giving.
05:10 And the group has been doing this for almost 17 years.
05:13 And to help with the feeding program of the government,
05:17 they are also doing a complimentary program.
05:21 We pay P45,000 per module to give them a glass of milk
05:27 every day for six months or 120 days.
05:30 We launched this program last September,
05:34 and it will end at the end of January.
05:39 [music]
05:45 You can really feel the Christmas spirit in the kids' smiles
05:49 who received gifts.
05:51 But of course, regardless of the season,
05:55 giving to the members is not a matter of time or place.
05:59 Happy giving to everyone, and Merry Christmas!
