00:00Regular diesel fuel fetches approximately 93 to 95 pesos a liter at the pump right now.
00:07Worse, a surge of up to 110 pesos a liter is forthcoming over the weekend or next Tuesday.
00:13A raise of a peso to two pesos in GP fares has been approved though by the LTFRB earlier today
00:19to hopefully offset the humongous hike in diesel fuel costs.
00:23As we hear the full report for Vincent Elijah Canlas.
00:29Starting today, new adjustments in petroleum prices have taken effect amid the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
00:35Because of this, gasoline price will see an increase of 12 to 16 pesos
00:40while diesel will jump by 20 to nearly 24 pesos with kerosene prices climbing between 7 to 9 pesos per
00:48liter.
00:48As a result, jeepney drivers are strictly budgeting to ensure they still have earnings for their families' needs.
00:55The hurry ng kalsada can breed a small size of relief.
00:59However, as the DOTR and LTFRB have approved the requested fare hike for jeepneys.
01:05According to LTFRB, a 1 peso increase has been added to the minimum fare of traditional jeepneys
01:11while a 2 peso increase applies to modern jeepneys.
01:15LTFRB Chairperson Attorney Vigor Mendoza II explained
01:18that this move is the government's way of balancing the needs of both drivers and commuters.
01:24We considered, of course, fuel price.
01:27Ah, ang kinonsider namin fuel price dito ranges from 75 to 80 pesos per liter.
01:35This was, I think, last week's prices.
01:38Ah, we also factored in the increase in spare parts costs, ah, na mga 14 percent.
01:48Alongside this, the agency assured the fuel subsidy distribution will alleviate the driver's fuel expense woes.
01:54So if you will see our distribution, when we're ready, dagabas na dati nyo, no?
01:59Wala ko tayong hindi binigyan.
02:01Not the driver.
02:14Because of this, jeepney drivers like Rick Perez are very grateful for the reliable support from the government.
02:36On the part of commuters, some of our fellow citizens said, this is but another adjustment to their daily budgets.
02:42From North Calocan kasi ko, eh, tawag nito, ang pamasahe ko araw-araw, from there to Pilkoa, 45 pesos na,
02:55so masyado nang mataas yun.
02:57Then from here to where this north, 13 pesos pa.
03:17In the face of this petroleum price challenges, the government remains closely focused on finding solutions to protect the welfare
03:24of every Filipinos.
