00:02 Rick, you live in Florida, you're in the Sunshine State,

00:06 it should be nothing but celebration all week long, except it is not.

00:10 Isn't it interesting, Rick Hora, like you mentioned, when a team left for dead,

00:15 the underdogs rise up and actually win football games or

00:18 a contest in which they play in?

00:20 Apparently, the College Football Playoff Selection Committee does not feel

00:24 the same way as Florida State was left out of the CFP on Selection Sunday,

00:28 just a few days ago.

00:30 We saw Florida Senator Rick Scott threaten legal action and

00:34 a Senate hearing to potentially get an understanding of what the committee

00:40 thought in terms of leaving Florida State out.

00:43 Florida Governor Ron DeSantis wants to use some of the state budget to potentially

00:49 sue or do something crazy to get Florida State into the college football playoff.

00:54 Rick, it's been a big year for litigation and college football.

00:58 Michigan threatening a lawsuit against the Big Ten for

01:01 the punishment of Jim Harbaugh.

01:03 James Madison, the Virginia Attorney General, writing to the NCAA to demand

01:07 that JMU could play and break the transition rule.

01:11 And now, any potential litigation for

01:14 Florida State to get into the college football playoff.

01:17 Rick, I think there's the idea that all of this happens for the publicity.

01:21 Is there any actual practicality behind lawsuits to get Florida State to play in

01:26 the CFP?

01:27 >> Well, no, but first of all, easy mark for the politicians, right?

01:31 Because as controversial as, let's say, Ron DeSantis might be,

01:35 there's no controversy in Florida to say we're gonna sue or

01:38 we're gonna introduce some legislation.

01:40 Corey Simon, who was an all world defensive tackle at FSU and

01:46 played for the Eagles, is now a state senator.

01:49 So he's been spouting off and talking about it.

01:51 Look, they gotta protect their constituencies.

01:54 The bottom line is these are jurors, let's say, who are locked in a room and

01:59 create their best judgment based on the criteria.

02:03 You may not like the criteria, by the way, and

02:05 I don't know if I've heard a lot of this in the last couple of days.

02:07 But you remember it says very clearly that one of the criteria is injuries to

02:12 key players.

02:13 And that may not be fair, cuz why should that be?

02:16 But if it's in black and white, like a jury system,

02:19 you lock these guys in a room, you make a decision, nobody's gonna be happy.

02:22 I can't wait till next year where number five is gonna be unhappy because they

02:25 don't get a bye.

02:26 And number 13 is gonna be unhappy cuz they don't get in.

02:29 And now what about SMU?

02:30 Why don't they sue?

02:32 Because they didn't get a power five game against Oregon.

02:34 By the way, we can never have enough lawyers, so bring it on.
