Watch: Australian sprintcar driver James McFadden
Transcript
00:00 Thanks for joining us James, back in Australia after a great season on the World of Outlaws
00:07 in America.
00:08 Can you run us through your campaign over there?
00:10 Yeah, long season, like normal, you know, start in February and end up in November,
00:15 middle of November.
00:16 So, long 75-80 race schedule, pretty happy with the year, had a lot of success and up
00:23 and downs at the same time.
00:25 So, sprint car racing, it's a roller coaster of a deal, but to win six Outlaw shows this
00:30 year was really good, really happy with the way my team worked together and, you know,
00:36 when we had some bad moments we dug deep and definitely came back swinging.
00:40 So, yeah, happy with the year, but it's always good to come home, come back to Australia,
00:45 get a good coffee and a good feed and hang out with the grandparents.
00:49 What is the coffee like in America?
00:51 Absolutely terrible.
00:52 It's a struggle, we've actually got a coffee machine there and we get the Toto's beans
00:59 sent over so I can have my normal coffee in the morning, it's good.
01:04 Excellent, and obviously you're back home and you've teamed up with Hodges Motorsport
01:07 again for a second season.
01:09 Can you tell us a little bit about your aims for the summer?
01:12 Yeah, excited to get back with Hodges Motorsport and obviously have Napa Auto Parts on board
01:17 again, which is huge for us and huge for the sport.
01:20 So, yeah, excited to get cracking.
01:23 Max's race will be our first race and we're going to try and hit the ground running.
01:27 We had a decent season last year, a decent campaign and build on that for this year and
01:32 hopefully get a few more wins.
01:34 And fifth in the Classic last year in the car, what's the goal this time around?
01:39 Well, the goal is always to win the race.
01:41 I'm disappointed with fifth, but at the same time nothing to hang our head about.
01:46 That race can be a bit of a chook raffle at times and probably for me to win the prelim
01:52 night was good and then to lead the race and not win it was disappointing.
01:57 So, hopefully we're in that position again and I don't make the same mistake and capitalise
02:01 on a decent spot.
02:03 So, anything can happen with this sport, but the aim is definitely to come home on top.
02:09 Alright, well best of luck.
02:10 Thank you.
02:11 Thanks.
02:12 Thanks.
