BIR reminds businesses not to use ghost or fake receipts
Transcript
00:00 Sixty-nine corporations, officers and accountants were slapped with charges before the Department
00:04 of Justice due to the use of supposed "ghost" or fake receipts.
00:09 Some of the respondents did not only sell fake receipts, but even declared fake services
00:14 just to seem legitimate.
00:16 The Bureau of Internal Revenue, or BIR, has time and again reminded business owners not
00:21 to use ghost receipts as it puts them at risk to litigation for violation of existing laws
00:27 on taxation for goods and services.
00:31 "They are also registered with us, BIR.
00:33 They are going through the process of registration and getting receipts.
00:39 But again, they are not selling any product or service.
00:44 They are only selling these receipts.
00:48 So, what they do is, of course, if you look at it, sometimes they use random people.
00:54 And if you look at it, they are not there.
