Gov. Greg Abbott (R-TX) endorses former President Trump for President in 2024 at a rally in Endinburg, Texas.
Transcript
00:00 (Applause.)
00:09 Howdy, RGV.
00:13 Great to be back here again.
00:15 And I want to thank Brandon Judd for everything he does.
00:19 He is the leader of the Border Patrol Union.
00:22 He is one of the people who are on the front line of trying to secure our border in the
00:28 United States of America, and he's doing so with an extraordinarily hostile president
00:34 working against him.
00:36 It's amazing they're able to do what they were able to do, but when you think about
00:40 the way that President Biden is fighting back against his own Border Patrol, it takes somebody
00:45 like Brandon Judd, his strength of character, his stiff spine, his experience in fighting
00:52 these battles, to know that we have men and women in the Border Patrol on the front line
00:57 trying to do their job, even though they had their hands tied behind their backs by President
01:03 Biden.
01:04 But give it up for our great members of the Border Patrol and everything they do to try
01:08 to keep America safe.
01:13 (Applause.)
01:18 I come here every Thanksgiving to give thanks to the men and women in uniform.
01:31 We have men and women in this area just to your side, men and women who are members of
01:38 the National Guard, members of the Border Patrol, and members of the Texas Department
01:42 of Public Safety.
01:44 They work every single day to help protect our state.
01:48 (Applause.)
01:49 You know, I come here and thank them because, listen, we know everyone likes to be with
01:55 their family during the time of Thanksgiving.
01:58 That includes members of the DPS and the National Guard and the Border Patrol, but they cannot
02:03 be with their family members at home.
02:05 They cannot do what most Americans and Texans would do during the time of Thanksgiving because
02:10 they are called upon to protect and serve the United States and the state of Texas by
02:16 working collectively to secure our border.
02:20 I want to also thank the men and women of the National Guard and Texas DPS for everything
02:26 they do to protect our state.
02:31 (Applause.)
02:34 But, listen, one very important point about this, and that is those men and women of the
02:45 Border Patrol, especially the men and women of the Texas National Guard and Texas Department
02:49 of Public Safety, they should not be here at this time.
02:54 They should be at home.
02:56 The only reason why they are here is because we have a President of the United States of
03:00 America who is not securing our border.
03:05 If Joe Biden was just enforcing the laws that currently exist, our border would be secure.
03:13 Because Joe Biden is not doing that, that's exactly why we have to have the National Guard
03:17 and the Texas Department of Public Safety.
03:20 But remember this, a president can secure the border.
03:26 If you go back four years ago, we had the lowest illegal border crossings in something
03:32 like 30 or 40 years.
03:34 The most secure border in the adult lifetime of everybody at this event here today is because
03:39 President Trump put into place five strategies.
03:47 President Trump implemented the Remaining Mexico Strategy, the Title 42 Strategy.
03:53 He eliminated catch and release.
03:55 He built a border wall.
03:56 And maybe most importantly, he said, "If you want to come to America, come here legally,
04:02 not illegally."
04:03 And he said, "You are not welcome if you come here illegally."
04:12 And then in came Joe Biden.
04:16 And Joe Biden eliminated all of those policies that were put into place by President Trump.
04:23 And because he eliminated those policies, what has happened to our country has been
04:29 catastrophic.
04:31 All time records have been set the past few years of the number of people coming across
04:35 the border illegally.
04:37 Two years ago, we had more than 2.3 million people apprehended coming across the border
04:43 illegally.
04:44 This past year, more than 2.4 million have come across the border illegally.
04:48 Altogether under Joe Biden, there have been more than 8 million people come across the
04:54 border illegally.
04:56 We have to deal with that here in Texas.
04:59 But increasingly, people are having to deal with it in New York City, in Chicago, and
05:05 other cities.
05:07 So I got news for the people in Manhattan.
05:11 There have been four Manhattans who have been apprehended coming across the border illegally
05:17 under President Biden.
05:19 There have been three Chicagos of the number of people apprehended coming across the border
05:23 illegally under President Biden.
05:25 If you're in Chicago, if you're in New York, and you're tired of these open border policies,
05:31 you need a new president.
05:40 And that's why we've been doing what we've been doing, because Joe Biden is such an abject
05:47 failure at securing the border.
05:50 Texas is using our own money to build a border wall.
05:54 We deployed the National Guard, National Guard, to put these razor wire border barriers down
06:00 there.
06:01 And so what does Biden do when we put those razor wire border barriers that deny people
06:05 access to America?
06:07 Joe Biden put a forklift down there and lifted them up and allowed thousands of migrants
06:13 to enter the country illegally.
06:16 And then when I put these buoys in the water to stop people from coming in illegally, Joe
06:20 Biden filed a lawsuit called United States of America versus Greg Abbott.
06:26 Greg Abbott is going to win that lawsuit.
06:28 I can tell you that much.
06:35 But maybe the most concerning thing for our fellow Americans about what's going on under
06:41 Joe Biden's leadership is the number of people coming across the border who are on the terrorist
06:48 watch list.
06:49 If we just look at the people who are known to be on the terrorist watch list, who are
06:53 known to be apprehended, it's all time records.
06:57 What we do not know is the number of people on the terrorist watch list who were not apprehended.
07:04 Joe Biden is causing a potential terror threat in the United States of America.
07:11 A president has one ultimate responsibility, and that's national security.
07:16 Joe Biden has failed at national security.
07:20 Well, I'm here to tell you that there is no way, no way that America can continue under
07:27 the leadership of Joe Biden as our president.
07:36 We need a president who's going to secure the border.
07:39 We need a president who's going to restore law and order in the United States of America,
07:46 not letting these criminals run ransack over the stores that you see images of almost nightly.
07:52 We need a president who's going to restore world peace as opposed to this outbreak of
07:58 warfare under Joe Biden.
08:00 We need Donald J. Trump back as our president of the United States of America.
08:11 I'm here today to officially proclaim my endorsement for Donald J. Trump to be president of the
08:19 United States of America again.
08:26 So join me in giving a Texas-sized welcome to President Donald J. Trump, the former and
08:32 future president of the United States of America.
08:34 [END]
08:44 1
08:51, 2, 3, 4.
09:17 Thank you very much, everybody.
09:18 Thank you very much.
09:19 It's a tremendous honor to get that endorsement in particular because he really stepped up.
09:25 He stepped up to the plate.
09:26 He's doing the job of what the federal government is supposed to be doing.
09:30 And I'm just telling you, Mr. Governor, I am going to make your job much easier.
09:36 You'll be able to focus on other things in Texas.
09:38 We love Texas.
09:39 And what they've done is very unfair.
09:42 They've given the job of -- the job to you.
09:45 It's a job of security for our country.
09:47 It's a job of stopping an invasion, because it's an invasion.
09:51 And you've done a great job.
09:52 And thank you very much for the endorsement, Greg.
09:54 I appreciate it very much.
09:55 Thank you.
09:56 It's a great honor.
09:57 [APPLAUSE]
09:58 Well, I've been here many times.
