Amazon is creating a dedicated team led by former head of Alexa Rohit Prasad to train a new large language model codenamed "Olympus." The goal is to build one of the largest AI models with 2 trillion parameters, which could rival the largest publicly available models from OpenAI and Google. Amazon hopes developing its own large models can make its cloud computing services on AWS more attractive to enterprise clients. The team reports directly to CEO Andy Jassy and there is no specific timeline for releasing the Olympus model.
