00:00Target is reallocating resources to improve the customer experience by increasing staffing
00:05and payroll in its nearly 2,000 U.S. stores responding to complaints about out-of-stock
00:10items, messy shells, and long lines.
00:13As part of that shift, the company is cutting about 500 jobs in distribution centers and
00:17regional offices, including roughly 100 at the store district level and 400 in supply
00:23chain roles.
00:25The move reflects a strategic restructuring under new CEO Michael Fidelke, who took the
00:30helm earlier this month and is prioritizing frontline service after years of stagnant
00:35sales.
00:36Target says savings from these cuts will be reinvested in store hours and employee training
00:41to enhance shopping experiences, even as it faces pressure from competitors and broader
00:46retail challenges.
