Two boys were killed in a single-car crash in Sydney's west this morning. They're believed to be between the ages of 10 and 15, but remain unidentified.

00:00 These are the split seconds before the Grey Ford Falcon was violently split in half by a power pole on Maxwell Avenue.
00:09 The impact killed two boys who were in the back seat.

00:15 Just seeing the scene from the side of the road, looking at the absolute destruction that has taken place to that vehicle,
00:21 and the loss of two young lives being ejected from that vehicle, anyone that would have witnessed that crash will no doubt be traumatized by it.
00:29 They just need to present themselves to a police station so we can actually engage with them,
00:34 and they can assist us with the inquiries and work out exactly how this tragic situation unfolded.
00:39 When you've caused that much carnage and you don't stick around to take responsibility for it, it's a weakness of character.
00:45 Officers and sniffer dogs have been scouring the area near Cabramatta Creek.
00:49 Police are also keen to speak to the rider of a trail bike who approached the scene after the crash.
00:55 While residents here at Maxwell Avenue are devastated and shocked by this incident, some say that it's common to see cars speeding in the area.

01:05 I mean, whatever it has to take for people to stop speeding, at least put some speed cameras or some speed buttons, you know what I mean?
01:11 The traffic is very bad. It's a 50, but they're going 150 all the time.
01:17 This incident takes the total number of deaths on New South Wales roads this year to 300.
01:23 So we're around about the 40 to 50 percent of those lives lost. Speed is a direct contributing factor.
01:28 After a different crash took the lives of a brother and sister in September, the community is left reeling from yet another speeding-related tragedy.
