00:03 Chloe's Christmas Wish tells the story of a 14-year-old girl and her family
00:07 who have fallen on hard times due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
00:11 The movie was filmed in parts of South Trinidad
00:14 and features a cast of first-time actors to the big screen.
00:18 It was last year that when she was not here,
00:21 I would carry on this tradition for Christmas.
00:23 I think I want to have a grand Christmas celebration
00:27 with plenty of food and decorations and friends in memory of grandma.
00:32 This is the greatest. No money, no U.S. come through
00:36 and you and your two children gotta live like paupers now.
00:39 The movie premiered on Thursday at the Naparimu Bowl to an appreciative audience.
00:43 The debut producer, Dr. Terrence Barber, says the idea was birthed in November last year
00:50 and he wanted to take a community approach to its execution.
00:54 I would like to think that I am community-based.
00:57 I am based in a community. I am just a member.
01:00 And I think that if we as a Trinidadian population overall must go forward,
01:06 reduce crime, improve our literacy rates,
01:10 improve our entertainment rates, decrease disease,
01:13 we need to have activity at the community level.
01:17 So I looked around the community and I saw what we could have seen
01:20 and I included people from all walks of life.
01:22 We also spoke with a couple of the stars at the movie premiere.
01:26 Well, I always love acting but I haven't really done it major as I said.
01:31 So for me having this experience or like chance to do this,
01:36 it was like a really big opportunity.
01:38 I feel proud in myself because I know that I've accomplished another goal in my life.
01:43 This experience was different in the sense that you're acting
01:48 and acting is one thing but then filming is another thing.
01:52 So I encountered a few challenges because most of the acting I did
01:56 used to be probably between myself and one other person.
01:59 But with the film, I had to work with a group.
02:02 So there are times where it was a little frustrating,
02:06 you know, to me the time, the deadlines and all that.
02:08 And then I had a lot of scenes, a lot of lines.
02:11 But nevertheless, it was a good experience because I love acting personally.
02:16 So I never really felt as if it was a challenge.
02:19 Although some days it was a little frustrating but it was fun.
02:22 - Chloe's Christmas Wish is expected to be screened in local theatres in the coming weeks.
