Regional entrepreneur paves way for young women and non-binary people in tech

Hunter-based MGA Thermal marketing manager Arden Jarrett, 25, founded Women and Gender Diverse People in Tech group and a podcast to encourage better gender representation in her industry.

00:00 there's fewer of us in tech.

00:02 And so it's really amazing to feel like we're part

00:04 of a community and to share our experiences

00:07 with people who may have experienced the same thing.

00:10 It helps us not feel alone and helps us grow strategies

00:15 to help bring more diversity.

00:17 At MTA Thermal, I do a bit of everything.

00:19 So at the moment, my role is marketing manager for brand

00:23 and that entails all communications as you can imagine.

00:26 So I do strategy and budget plus some graphic design,

00:31 photography.

00:32 I also founded Women and Gender Diverse People in Tech

00:35 with Sarah Fraser from Newy Tech People.

00:38 And that really creates a community space

00:41 for women and gender diverse people to come

00:43 and whether they're interested in tech

00:45 or in the tech industry,

00:47 it provides a space for us to meet and collaborate

00:49 as well as sharing and promoting the voices

00:51 of women and gender diverse people.

00:53 The podcast is to extend our community

00:56 and our reach.

00:57 So it's really exciting to talk to more people

00:59 who say can't make it to speaker events

01:02 and also share that knowledge of those people.

01:07 I'm neurodivergent and I think being different

01:11 is our greatest strength.

01:12 So I can see how a lot of these characteristics

01:14 I have has helped me think outside the square

01:18 and really grow my skills and abilities,

01:22 but also my entrepreneurial spirit, right?

01:24 I think a lot of entrepreneurs are neurodivergent

01:27 and it helps us think outside of the norm

01:30 and think about what we could do better.
