On this site where we are at the moment, there used to be the old central library in Tarnshills
00:11
and it's being demolished. It was outdated, not fit for purpose and really we needed to
00:18
clear the site for the college relocation. The site is earmarked for student accommodation
00:25
as the students move from Westdome to the town centre, they will lose that accommodation
00:33
that they had at Westdome and so we are replacing that with accommodation block here on this
00:39
site. The proposed move is going well, we are busy assembling the sites in the town
00:47
centre that's going to be necessary for the college to build a brand new purpose built
00:53
college that will be superb. We had a consultation last year asking people what they would like
01:01
to see in the town centre and four out of five of them said it would be a good move
01:06
to bring the college into the town centre. The soft strip and the asbestos removal have
01:17
been completed and the demolition has started coming in from the car park, going down towards
01:23
the bingo hall, coming across to the overhang and then the safe removal of the basement.
01:31
The planning applications have gone in, they are being validated and hopefully we will
01:36
have a decision by the end of the year.
