00:00 This is the 2008 Buick Enclave.
00:07 It's an all new model.
00:08 The Buick Enclave is based on the Lambda platform that also underpins the Saturn Outlook and
00:15 the GMC Acadia and the upcoming Chevrolet, which we think will be called the Traverse.
00:20 I think the Buick Enclave is very important in the SUV of the year story in that it points
00:27 toward a new direction in sport utility vehicles.
00:30 It's a really big sport utility.
00:32 It's a crossover.
00:33 It's a front wheel drive based sport utility using a unibody, but it's a little bit longer
00:40 than a GMC Yukon or Chevy Tahoe.
00:43 It's 202 inches long, so it's quite big.
00:46 If you look at the proportions, if you look at the styling, it looks like a combination
00:53 of crossover sport utility, minivan, and old fashioned station wagon.
00:59 So I think it's important in that it's leading the market into a new segment.
01:05 The downside of having all this interior room, making a big commodious vehicle like this
01:11 is that it weighs a lot.
01:13 It's more than 5,000 pounds.
01:16 So far it's only offered with one drive train.
01:19 It has a good engine.
01:20 It's a 3.6 liter, 275 horsepower, high feature V6, and it's mated to a six speed automatic
01:28 transmission.
01:30 But it just has a lot of weight to pull in this particular model.
01:33 There will be a V8 version coming in a couple of years that's going to be known as the Enclave
01:38 Super, and that's going to launch with a new high feature V8.
01:44 We expect to be more than five liters with quad cams and all the latest technology coming
01:49 out in the 2010 model year.
