Rolls-Royce extension project adds £3.1 million to the local economy in its first year

00:01we've been on an extraordinary journey it began in 2017 with a realization and a vision the
00:11realization was that Rolls-Royce motor cars success meant its original site at Goodwood
00:16was approaching capacity to continue its growth innovation and excellence we needed new equipment
00:23new facilities and above all more space a lot more space true to our philosophy to take the
00:33best that exists and make it better we began forming a vision to expand the home of Rolls-Royce
00:39for a new generation and so the idea was born to build an extension to the home of Rolls-Royce
00:45at
00:45Goodwood alongside our existing premises to expand our capabilities for bespoke and coach build and
00:51secure our business for decades to come that vision was first translated into an initial design
00:57statement that in turn informed a detailed planning proposal preparing the planning application was a
01:04delicate complex process teams across our business invested many months in getting it right working
01:11closely with expert consultants and advisors representatives of local regional and national
01:17authorities and utilities and actively engaging with our neighbors through regular communications
01:23and outreach events in the surrounding communities and at the home of Rolls-Royce itself we also conducted
01:30extensive environmental and archaeological investigations underlining our sensitive approach to living and
01:38working in this unique and beautiful corner of the world in the spring of 2024 we were granted
01:46formal planning consent construction began almost immediately with a real sense of purpose and ambition
01:53through 2025 the momentum has continued to build on site we poured 750 concrete foundation pads installed 437
02:04steel columns and connecting beams to create the new buildings framework which was then clad in materials
02:11chosen for their longevity low environmental impact and ability to blend seamlessly with their surroundings
02:20off-site we created valuable new amenities for the neighboring community and involved local people including
02:26children in meeting our pledge to deliver a biodiversity net gain of more than 10 percent across the site
02:34the extension is the largest single investment at the home of rolls-royce since it launched in 2003
02:40it's one of the largest currently in the southeast of england and now we have arrived at a defining moment

02:48this 300 million pound plus project the new building is now fully weathertight and ready to be fitted out
02:57this landmark extension creates 40 000 square meters of additional space it will house state-of-the-art
03:05facilities and advanced equipment that will future-proof our business for years to come
03:11it will safeguard skilled jobs and strengthen our vital contribution to both the local community and wider uk
03:18economy through careful design thoughtful use of materials and our commitment to safeguarding our local
03:26environment and habitats the new building blends discreetly into its surroundings just like the original one
03:33proof that it's possible to bring about transformative business and technological change without making a major
03:40visual social or environmental impact the building stands ready now the fit out begins
