If you are differently abled and miss the great outdoors especially the beach, this one is for you. There is a new edition to the award winning and iconic Pigeon Point Heritage Park in Tobago, the floating wheelchair. This newly-installed device at the park makes access to the water for the differently-abled easier. More in this Elizabeth Williams report.

00:00 The floating wheelchair is a three-wheel beach buggy chair which allows easy
00:05 access to the sea for the differently abled. When you bring your family member
00:10 to the beach the floating wheelchair that the Pigeon Point Energy Park provided
00:15 for you it's more accessible you could actually take him into the water. The
00:19 chair is going to be floating, the person is going to be lying in the chair floating.
00:22 Previously lifeguards physically moved differently abled beachgoers from the
00:27 shore to the sea. Times going by we had some serious heavyweights that we have
00:33 to use manpower to try to lift the toe to the water and it's been very very
00:38 hard so the floating the chair trust you me it's a serious and it's more
00:43 accommodating for us as well. Users are securely strapped and can use this
00:48 latest edition at the cost of 100 TT dollars for half an hour. There is only
00:54 one chair thus far but we are told that more chairs are to be made available.
01:00 Visitor Shan Ramkisun praised the initiative. This is my first time
01:06 visiting here and I must say the facilities is amazing and it's a great
01:09 initiative by Pigeon Point Park to include that for the differently abled
01:13 persons and I totally recommend it to any disabled persons or different able
01:20 persons to come and enjoy the new facility here. Elizabeth Williams TV6
