00:30 This incident happened yesterday night just after 6.30pm.
00:34 Police say up to two bikes and likely a quad bike as well were riding on Beatties Road
00:40 just behind me when some sort of collision occurred, obviously injuring those people.
00:47 Police have also this morning issued a warning to road users.
00:51 Have a listen.
00:52 The message is that motorcycles are not toys, they can be lethal weapons and it's two lives
01:02 tragically lost needlessly and added to our road toll this year.
01:09 That road toll is now sitting at 193 lives tragically lost.
01:14 As I say, we are just near Melton in Melbourne's outer west.
01:19 Despite being only about 40 minutes from the city here, it is kind of like a rural area.
01:25 We're surrounded by paddocks.
01:26 We've got the Western Freeway to my right and to my left a winery.
01:30 So there is paddocks almost like rural roads.
01:33 Police have just packed up the scene behind me.
01:36 We've seen SES leaving.
01:38 We've seen a tow truck with a motorbike on board leaving the scene and also police leaving
01:42 the scene this morning.
01:43 So despite the scene being cleared, that investigation into what exactly happened, still happening
01:48 throughout the day.
