00:03 Plans have been emitted for a recycling plant at a quarry site near Chesterfield

00:07 that has been hampered by issues with foul smells, flight infestations, noise and dust.

00:13 Valencia Waste Management Ltd. wants to build the recycling plant at the Erin landfill site in Duckmonton

00:19 between Chesterfield and Bolsover alongside the M1 motorway.

00:23 The firm says that its planned recycling facility would process construction and demolition waste from building projects

00:30 separating out materials that can be reused before sending the rest to landfill.

00:35 The firm says that residents would not be affected by the plans

00:38 although much disruption has been reported in relation to the site over the years.

00:43 Three years ago more than 250 residents opposed plans to give landfill owners Viridor

00:49 an extra 14 years to fill in the site and regenerate it as a nature reserve.

00:54 Derbyshire County Council subsequently approved the plans

00:57 in a bid to avoid the owners creating a new landfill site somewhere else instead.

01:01 Following that decision, Viridor handed over its landfill, including all its staff, to Valencia.

01:07 A decision will be made by Derbyshire County Council on the new plans in the next few months.

01:14 Derbyshire Police are appealing for help in tracing the last movements of a man who has been found dead at his home.

01:20 Police were called just before 1.40pm on Saturday to a home on Goite Road in Whaley Bridge

01:26 following reports that a man in his 70s had been found dead.

01:30 Officers are in the area as they carry out enquiries into the circumstances of his death

01:34 which at this time are being treated as unexplained.

01:38 Detective Inspector Steve Toppen said "At this time we are not treating the death as suspicious but as unexplained

01:44 and we are keeping an open mind.

01:46 We are working hard to trace the man's movements in the last 24 hours before his death

01:51 and we would like to hear from anyone who may have noticed a man with injuries

01:54 or something that didn't seem quite right."
