00:02 Cash-strapped US trucking company Yellow Corp., previously known as YRC Worldwide, has seized
00:08 operations and is filing for bankruptcy, according to a statement from the Teamsters Union.
00:13 Despite receiving significant concessions from workers and bailout funding from the
00:17 federal government, the company struggled to manage itself effectively and failed to
00:20 reorganize and refinance its debt of over a billion dollars.
00:25 As the third-largest US trucker specializing in less-than-truckload shipments, Yellow served
00:30 customers such as Walmart, Home Depot, manufacturers, and Uber Freight.
00:35 Some customers halted cargo shipments to the company out of fear of potential losses or
00:39 delays if the carrier went bankrupt.
00:42 The company had blamed the Teamsters Union for obstructing restructuring and modernization
00:46 efforts critical for its survival and ability to refinance its $1.3 billion debt due by
00:51 2024.
