Glasgow headlines 31 July: Murder inquiry launched following death of 21-year-old

Following the death of 21-year-old Ryan Willcox in Castlemilk, Police have launched a murder inquiry.

An 18-year-old has been charged in connection with the incident which occurred on 28 July.

Willcox was found with a serious injury before being pronounced dead at the scene.

Next up, a new mural in Cardonald depicting the pioneering female aviator Winnie Drinkwater has been hailed a soaring success by the local community.

The artwork on Paisley Road West is the first of three interactive murals in the area created to bring Cardonald’s history to life.

And in other news, Glasgow is set to officially welcome the UCI Cycling World Championships with an opening ceremony at George Square on 2 August.

The event will feature performances by Scottish artists and include a mixture of professional and community based organisations, headlined by a performance from KT Tunstall.
