The Argentine government, worker’ unions and employers’ associations have agreed to a 28.5% increase in the nation’s minimum wage for 300,000 workers, that will amount to as much as US$660 a month. During neoliberal administrations wages stayed at US$20 a month with no rises for 10 years, but over the last 12 years, beginning with the Nestor Kirschner administration, Argentina has seen a 3000% rise in the minimum wage, which has had a significant impact on the living conditions of low-income workers. Leo Poblete reports from Buenos Aires for teleSUR.
