00:10Caribbean waters. In special communique, the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela
00:14categorically denounced and rejected the theft and hijacking of a new private vessel carrying
00:21Venezuelan oil as well as the forced disappearance of its crew committed by military personnel of
00:28the United States of America in international waters. This serious act of piracy constitutes a
00:34flagrant violation of the crime provided for in Article 3 of the 1988 Convention for the suppression
00:42of unlawful acts against the safety of maritime navigation as well as a gross violation of Article
00:492 of the Charter of the United Nations, Article 2 of the Geneva Convention on the High Seas and also
00:56the declaration of the principles of international law concerning friendly relations and cooperation
01:02among states among other applicable norms of international law. In this statement, the government
01:09said the colonialist model that the United States government seeks to impose through these types of
01:15practices will fail and be defeated by the Venezuelan people. Venezuela will continue to move forward with
01:23its economic growth based on its 14 engines and the development of its hydrocarbon industry in an
01:31independent and sovereign manner. The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela also reaffirmed that this act will
01:38not go unpunished and will take all appropriate actions including reporting them to the United Nations Security Council,
01:46other multilateral organizations and the governments of the world. International law will prevail and those
01:54responsible for this serious act will answer to justice and history for their criminal conduct.
