Ecuador will open the world's first ecologically friendly airport in the pristine Galapagos Islands. The facility, in which 80% of its infrastructure comes from recycled material from the old airport, will use solar and wind power and has its own desalination plant to use seawater. The airport received the prestigious "Leed Gold" certification, granted by the US Green Building Council to the best sustainable constructions in the world. teleSUR
