Panama: 39th general assembly of Parlatino was held with a call to strengthen sovereignty and integration in the region

In Panama, the parliament of Latin America and the Caribbean celebrated its 39th general assembly, calling for the strengthening of regional integration and sovereignty. The meeting took place in the context of the 200th anniversary of the Amphictyonic Congress, an initiative launched by the liberator Simón Bolívar in the same city to promote the integration of the Great Colombia. Furthermore, legislators from across the region agreed on the relevance of the organization as a space for dialogue and consensus. It should be noted that during the session, the Venezuelan delegation denounced the aggression that the country faced on January 3rd, which resulted in the kidnapping of the Venezuelan presidential couple. Furthermore, the Venezuelan bloc requested a solidarity statement in response to the threats. For their part, representatives of Cuba and Colombia alerted to the actions of the United States, warning that Washington is threatening the proclamation that declares Latin America and the Caribbean a zone of peace.
