00:00Welcome back to From the South. We continue in the United States where the No King movement is gathering demonstrators
00:05in all 50 states across the country
00:07against President Trump's policy in what is said to be one of the largest protests in the history of the
00:12country.
00:13We're looking at images from the city of Chicago, where this is the third series of nationwide protests organized by
00:18the No King group
00:19that is expected to bring together over 9 billion people in more than 3,000 rallies nationwide.
00:24The demonstrators aim to challenge what activists describe as facetious and oligarchic policies, the expansion of executive power,
00:33and a plan to voice broader concerns about governance, immigration, enforcement, and foreign policy, including calls to end the war.
00:40Hundreds of thousands of demonstrators are rallying in cities like Boston, New York, Washington, Atlanta, Chicago, and Portland,
00:48while organizers have designated the rally at the Minnesota Capitol in St. Paul as the national flagship event.
00:54A recognition of the number of the murder of two U.S. citizens by federal agents, marking the state as
01:00an epicenter of resistance.
01:04And so we're out here because we feel that the Constitution is under threat in a multitude of different ways.
01:12Things aren't normal. They aren't okay.
01:14And so we're out here helping keep people safe, make sure their voices get heard.
01:22Oh, yes. I think the next election is going to be crucial because what the GOP, which is complicit to
01:28Trump,
01:28trying to do, they're trying to take over the election, and Trump, many times, even in his campaign,
01:34that if you vote for him that first time, you'll never have to vote again.
01:38So I'm just afraid of that.
02:11Meanwhile, in Canada, events are taking place in Toronto, Ottawa, and Halifax.
02:15In other countries like Australia and Mexico, demonstrations are also taking place.
