According to the International Migration Organization, more than 33% of the people of Haitian descent currently being deported by the Dominican Republic were born in the country. More than 20 percent are children under the age of five. Changes to nationality laws now deny the children of Haitian migrants rights that would otherwise be granted to Dominican citizens.
