Nicaragua Celebrates 120th Anniversary of Birth of Sandino

On Monday, Nicaragua marked the 120th anniversary of the birth of Augusto Cesar Sandino. Known as the "General of Free Men", Sandino led the struggle against the U.S. military occupation of the Central American country in the 1920s and 1930s. He was a proponent of Latin American unity and is considered a revolutionary hero and patriot throughout the region.
